Sri Seshadri Swamigal Ashram is situated along Chengam Road, adjacent to Ramanasramam. It houses the sacred Maha Samadhi shrine of the revered mystic Sri Seshadri Swamigal. The ashram offers peaceful prayer halls, daily abhishekams, book sales, and Annadhanam dining halls.
The Guardian of Young Ramana
When young Venkataraman (later Sri Ramana Maharshi) sat absorbed in samadhi inside the dark Patala Lingam subterranean chamber of the temple, it was Seshadri Swamigal who guarded the youth from insects and hostile elements, proclaiming to the townspeople that a great sage had arrived.
Visiting Experience
The ashram is tranquil and welcoming. Visitors can circumambulate the Samadhi sanctum, attend evening aarti, and meditate in the quiet courtyards. Accommodations and food offerings are available for registered pilgrims.
